Jessica Ketola, Lead Pastor
Jessica is the Lead Pastor of The Practicing Church, a missional community seeking to join God’s work of renewal in her Richmond Highlands neighborhood. Jessica has been passionate about the church most of her life - challenging the status quo, exploring what it means to truly follow Jesus and pushing into holistic ways of being the church. Jessica is passionate about equipping leaders in reimagining missional innovation & church revitalization in the neighborhood as the Director of the School of Neighborhood Life at Sustainable Faith and previously serving on the instructional team for Parish Collective learning communities. Jessica serves as a Board Director of Canopy Scholars, a non-profit birthed out of her faith community to foster educational equity and community building with local immigrant youth and families. Jessica holds a Masters of Leadership at Asbury Theological Seminary, a certificate of Leadership in the New Parish at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, and a two-year certificate of Spiritual Direction Training with Sustainable Faith. Jessica is an artist, spiritual director, and party host, bringing her creativity to her community in many ways. Jessica and her husband, David, have four grown children and live in Shoreline working for the good of their neighborhood.
David Ketola, Leadership Team
David Ketola is a pastor, counselor, and the beating heart of our community. David is passionate about creating a welcoming space for all where people are free to drop the facades and to be their authentic selves. To this end, David offers warm hospitality at our gatherings and neighborhood dinners, facilitates spiritual direction groups for men, and enjoys connecting one on one over a good pint of beer. David received his Master of Counseling & Psychology from The Seattle School and works at the Samaritan Center of Puget Sound. David is an avid biker, outdoor enthusiast, and father of four.
Dr. Rose Madrid Swetman, Pastor Emeritus
Rose is our Pastor Emeritus, having led as Lead Pastor for almost 20 years and now serves on the teaching team. Currently, Rose is the Associate Director for The Center for Transforming Engagement, a part of The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. She is the Founder of Canopy, a non-profit birthed out of our faith community students marginalized by racial and economic inequities. Rose holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Bakke Graduate University in Seattle, WA, focused on Transformational Leadership for the Global City and wrote her dissertation on The Practicing Church. Rose is now a pastor, coach, and consultant for leaders bringing her rich ministry experience to bring holistic healing to individuals, relationships, and systems. Rose has been a forerunner for women in the Vineyard movement as one of the first ordained women pastors and Regional Leader for the Northwest for 10 years. She is married to Rich and they have a blended family of eight children, their spouses and at this count, twenty-two grandchildren!
