We have a dream. It is a dream of catalyzing ordinary folks like you and me to love God and neighbor in the places we live, work and play in such a way that it is actually good news to our neighbors. We believe that contrary to popular belief, the gospel really is good news and that it must be reinterpreted in our time and day in the particularities of our everyday lives. We dream of a group of sincere followers of Jesus who are joining God in the renewal and flourishing of their neighborhoods - who are listening, caring, praying, loving and joining in God's healing work in their communities. We believe that the Spirit of God is out ahead of us, in our neighborhoods and workplaces, inviting us to see, to listen and to attend to His movement.
We are asking you to invest in the dream. We are asking you to invest in the mission of the church —to practice and embody the way of love in such a way that transforms us and our neighborhoods. And this is where your money will go. We are not interested in putting large sums of money into a single-use church building, silo'd away from the world. Rather we will invest our monies into hospitality, community building and mobilizing the church - which is Christ's body - to be activated in our neighborhoods for the flourishing of our community. In fact, the more our funds increase, the closer it will get us into the very heart of our communities. We dream of a place of hospitality (a multi-use community space) in the neighborhood that will be a place of community and welcome for all.
Live generously and freely. The gospel invites us into a life of radical contentment, generosity, gratitude, trust and simplicity. We can reimagine our assumptions about time, money and material possession to pursue a life of greater freedom. We can choose to pursue meaning, value people, and engage the needs of those around us by investing in the mission of the church. We can be free to spend our time and money on what matters most.
Why we give. Our faith in a generous God is formed and refined in the practice of giving. The world lives out of a paradigm of scarcity and the fear of not enough. As followers of Jesus, we believe we are to live out of a paradigm of abundance and more than enough. There is a deep satisfaction that comes from following Jesus' example of generosity, and it is a privilege to use our resources to continue telling God's story. We believe that we all get to participate in the reconciling work of God as we simply listen and respond to the invitation of the Spirit in the ordinary activity of our everyday lives.
